Torquay is quite possibly one of the most beautiful places imaginable (in my humble opinion). A much-celebrated seaside resort town located in the area known as the English Riviera, it is truly the jewel in the Devon coast crown. Torquay is such a place of natural beauty. It will come as no surprise to find that this area is a popular one for couples looking for a magical place hold their wedding day. One of my favourite Torquay wedding venues is the Imperial Hotel in Torquay. Now that I’ve shot an event there I’m happy to tell people that I’ve been an Imperial Hotel Wedding photographer!
Established in 1866, the Imperial Hotel in Torquay may be found in an enviable cliff-top location overlooking Torquay Harbour and the English Channel. The area itself is steeped in history, maritime and otherwise and from a cultural point of view there are a number of art galleries, eateries, and the famous Torre Abbey to visit. For wedding guests looking to extend their stay after a wedding, they will find themselves conveniently located in the perfect south coast holiday destination.
More On The Imperial Hotel at Torquay
What I found when shooting a wedding at the Imperial Torquay is that this venue offers a wonderful balance of traditional charm and modern conveniences. With 152 bedrooms spread over seven floors, there is no need to worry about finding your guests somewhere to stay, as long as they are booked in early enough (for availability and to take advantage of reserved accommodation rates). Guests and of course wedding couples themselves may enjoy the delights of the hotel ranging from spa/beauty rooms to indoor and outdoor pools and more.
Weddings at The Imperial Hotel Torquay
If I haven’t sold you on the Imperial already, the amazing amount of planning, consideration, and detail that goes into each and every wedding surely will. As you will know well if you are planning a wedding, it can be quite overwhelming with 101 things to organise, remember and sort out. The Imperial Hotel makes what could seem like a full-time job a most pleasurable experience, allowing you to feel excited about your wedding day, rather than worrying about all of the details.
The Imperial Torquay offers a basic (yet really not basic!) wedding package which may then be added to and customised in order for couples to create the wedding day or their dreams and one which suits their budget. Experienced and dedicated wedding coordinators work alongside the couples to ensure that their wedding reflects their hopes, dreams and their own personality. That isn’t something that you’d imagine is possible when opting for a wedding package but the staff at the Imperial Torquay work tirelessly to make sure that your day is as wonderful and as unique as you are.
My Time as an Imperial Hotel Wedding Photographer
When Gabi and Matt invited me to capture their wedding at the Imperial Hotel in Torquay my main focus was on Matt’s constant grin and the fact that Gabi simply shone all day. It was such a wonderful day. Looking back, I can’t imagine any other venue being so perfect for this pair and their fabulous families and friends. For a sneak peek of what your wedding at this venue could look like have a look at some of the pictures that Matt & Gaby were kind enough to allow me to add to my website.
Torquay is a magical place for anyone to visit but as a wedding photographer, it is a dream. The light is amazing and even on those inevitable rainy days, the dramatic seascapes have a romantic feel all of their own. I have captured magical moments all over the south coast and so the Imperial had its work cut out in term of topping venues I’d already visited. It didn’t beat any other venue, it simply exists in a realm all of its own. If you are looking for a Torquay wedding venue, or an Imperial Hotel Wedding Photographer, feel free to get in touch.
