One of the best things about being a Devon wedding photographer, other than meeting amazing couples, of course, is exploring new venues. I was recently asked by a delightful couple to shoot their Plymouth wedding. The ceremony itself was magical and held in an awe-inspiring church in the centre of Plymouth, St Andrews Church. The wedding reception venue was at St Elizabeth’s House Boutique Hotel. This was my first time at this venue and somewhere I would love to revisit.
Wedding Receptions and Civil Ceremonies at St Elizabeth’s House Boutique Hotel
St Elizabeth’s House Boutique Hotel can be found in Plympton St Maurice, right on the edge of Plymouth here in Devon. A well-connected area in terms of transport links and access, this venue is perfect for welcoming friends and family from out of town.
The hotel itself is steeped in history, being built in the seventeenth century. In the last century, it was used as a convent. Now, after thoughtful renovation, it stands proud as a beautiful hotel that is perfect for wedding day events and more.
While the happy couple who invited me to capture their wedding reception here were married at St Andrew’s first. Anyone looking for somewhere to do both can do so here. Civil ceremonies held in the Beatrice Room, for example, are very popular and with good reason. The dedicated staff offer several wedding packages. They are happy to work with you to create a day that is as unique and as special as you are.
St Elizabeth’s House Inside and Out
A converted Georgian manor, St Elizabeth’s House Boutique Hotel boasts designer interiors in keeping with the history of the building. High ceiling, beautiful features, plenty of room and an air of quiet grandeur make this venue the perfect place to welcome your guests. As a Devon wedding photographer the outdoors is also somewhere I am keen to check out. This is one venue that does not disappoint. Acres of beautiful sweeping grounds stretch down to the South Hams, offering serene surroundings for you and your guests.
If you wanted to take advantage of the outdoor spaces at St Elizabeth’s House Boutique Hotel you could host up to one hundred and forty guests outside in their stylish outdoor marquee. This is the perfect option for those with large numbers of attendees. The marquee is beautifully dressed with suspended crystal chandeliers, pristine white-covered tables and chairs. This outdoor option offers a luxurious feeling event venue that guests will talk about for years.
